The Art of Courage

What came first… the chicken or the egg? 

Which comes first… Courage or Vulnerability?

Do you first display your vulnerability to develop more courage or first have the courage to be vulnerable?  As we are guided along our path and experience our life’s journey, there are times where we’ll be challenged and stretched. It’s in the choice(s) we make, how we react and the attitude we adopt that sparks a positive experience or learning opportunity or perhaps both.

It starts by being aware and knowing that when they blend simultaneously as two parts of a whole, the understanding and appreciation leads to personal enrichment.

By opening ourselves to our vulnerability, we are drawing on our courage to look at and possibly share a raw side that has yet to be healed, it touches deep into our core and fiber of our cells. By exhibiting our vulnerability, we tap into our inner landscape, our real selves, which could elicit an emotional awakening from us and others, or perhaps make a connection or deepen a relationship.

 In doing so, this may start the steps to healing a part of oneself which results in developing more courage and even self-compassion, self-trust, self-worth. “I am open, I am vulnerable, but I am not weak.” Building and drawing upon courage to heal parts of ourselves that hold us back from being brighter, happier, fulfilled beings to ourselves and with those around us. Leading with courage, despite the vulnerabilities, we claim our right to embrace them as our allies to move forward in resilience and ease.
