What is Holistic Integrative Pilates (HIP)?

HIP is a holistic approach designed to integrate specific body releasing and breathing techniques, followed by  Pilates and movement modalities bringing alignment mindfully, intuitively and physically.

How is Pilates different from other types of exercises?

It is low impact, applying precise movements and breathing techniques to the workouts. It is more core intensive than Yoga. It’s a great supplement to an already existing fitness routine or wellness program. Can anyone do Pilates?

Pilates is appropriate for most of the population regardless of fitness level.  If you are starting your wellness journey, I invite you to the introductory pack and continue for at least 2-3 months of learning the method to achieve effective results.

What is the best way to get started with Pilates?

If new to fitness and Pilates, book a 3 session introductory package to learn the fundamentals and develop an understanding of your body and what your body focus is prior to joining group sessions. If you have prior experience to fitness and/or Pilates, book at least one session to assess your body needs and goals and learn the STOTT Pilates principles so you are set for success when you join the group sessions.

Can I practice Pilates at home?

Yes, the joy of doing the On-demand videos and/or live with HIP HOP is participating from the comfort of your home, and finding the convenience and time saved from commuting, and everything that comes with driving to a fitness studio.

How often should I do Pilates?

Pilates is a full body workout, focusing on quality movement rather than quantity. Pilates can be done daily, but even 2-3 times a week can result in positive changes and for ongoing body maintenance.

Can Pilates help me lose weight?

Pilates helps to maintain healthy weight, however, it doesn’t have the same cardio benefits as running or swimming.  Pilates combined with cardio exercises can possibly contribute to weight loss.

Can Pilates help me if I have an injury?

Obtain a professional assessment and diagnosis from your doctor prior to returning to any exercise. Pilates can possibly continue post rehabilitation, however, obtain prior professional diagnosis and treatment from your doctor.  With specific tailored movements, Pilates can help with relative low back pain. Does Pilates help improve posture?

How long do I have access to the videos?

You have unlimited access as part of your paid membership. Free memberships have access to publicly accessible videos that are usually introductions or short demonstrations.

What if I have to cancel a HIP HOP class?

We know that unexpected situations arise, but we have you covered. As long as you are a current member, you have access to replay the live session for that day within 5 days.
